What is PSPE?
The Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers is an organization:
- Composed entirely of qualified Engineers, Surveyors, and Engineers-in-Training;
- Devoted exclusively to the non-technical programs of all engineers regardless of employment or branch;
- Continuing effective working elements at three levels of the Engineers’ interest, namely the local community, the state, and the nation;
- Governed by democratic principles and determined by the wishes of individual members, expressed through local representation to the State Society.
- Integrated within the National Society of Professional Engineers.
Objectives of PSPE
- To safeguard life, health and property by restricting or encouraging the restriction by proper authority the practice of engineering and surveying to properly qualified persons;
- To advance the welfare of the engineering and surveying professions by establishment, observance and enforcement of high ethical standards of conduct;
- And through sponsorship of the creation and enforcement of adequate licensing laws and practice acts, to place the control of engineering projects within the scope of such laws and acts;
- To focus public attention upon the functions, requirements and accomplishments of engineers;
- To sponsor and promote honorable procedures tending toward recognition commensurate with the dignitaries and responsibilities of the profession.
